Liminal Soundings

By  Brighid Black 2019

Brighid Black

Modified objects and assemblages constructed from found natural and manmade materials, produce sounds. The artefacts are activated in resonant places. These places can be built structures or natural features in the landscape. They are resonant sonically and in terms of the narratives attached to them, which may be archaeological or historical. 'Thrum' is made from a gorse branch found on the ground in a stand of gorse bushes, owl feathers found by the side of the road nearby, blue strimmer twine and fuse wire. 'Flute' is a modified sheep bone form the same area.
