Lippy is from a series of sculptures exploring the taboo subject of female body/facial hair using make-up cases and tools which have an association with the mouth, upper lip and chin area. Around the Yardley, Ace of Hearts vintage lipstick, human hair has been straightened, twisted and teased into a caged entrapment, keeping rigid rule. Lippy’s tongue in cheek references to songs like ‘Lipstick, Powder and Paint’ (Stone; 1956) and has sexual implications.
Materials; Human Hair, thread, hairspray, vintage lipstick (Ace of Hearts. Yardley).
