This painting hangs on the ceiling. I've always thought that the attic is a curious space in a house, some are converted into an extra bedroom whilst others are just store rooms where odd items get dumped. The attic can become a depository for memories; a room of ancient souvenirs, of sentiments and consequently a room of witnesses to ones past. Perhaps sometimes to a past which is best left undisturbed, but of course at other times it can yield happy memories. There's no escaping the life hidden away in the attic's memory - other than by throwing everything out!
To gain access to the attic one has to climb through the attic trap door in the ceiling…so why not hang a painting of the attic door on the ceiling? It's the logical place for it; your past can keep an eye on your present.
