Permanent sculpture installation in Seeley Lake (Montana, USA), unveiled / blessed on September 3rd 2010 by the leader of the Salish tribe, Chief Victor Charlo.
The installation consists of 10 large timbers ranging in height between 20 and 10 feet, arranged in a "henge" formation.
I invited collaboration on this work from fellow artists Merrily Dunham (pictograms) and Jennifer Dyer (calligraphy). Symbols and text that are locally relevant were woven into the artwork. I stained the logs, which were donated by a local mill.
The wood was dead-standing, beetle-killed Douglas Fir.
Volunteers from around the community were involved in helping me create this artwork which heralds a new turn in my practice to work with sustainable (reclaimed, raw, recycled) materials.
