Looking in

Paul Critchley

'Looking in' hangs on a corner and invites the viewer to look into the interior. Although the painting comes out towards you, the illusion created by the perspective makes one feel as though one is looking into the space - which is what one expects of a conventional 2D painting - but the 3D of this outside corner painting plays with the spatial illusion of the image of the interior portrayed.
