Love in Red and Blue

Triptych video installation In 2017 the artist used a popular online dating app to seek out someone with opposing political beliefs and together they set out to build a genuine affection and relationship. Griffiths, on the left wearing red is a Labour Party member, Nate Phillips on the right wearing blue is a Conservative voter. The video accelerates a relationship through three scenarios: a first date, a romantic dinner and a wedding ceremony. Drawing on psychologist Arthur Aron’s experiment called ‘36 questions to fall in love to’ the participants answer a series of questions designed to create closeness. This work is currently being shown as part of 'While we belong to ourselves, a little bit of us belongs to everyone' exhibition at Swiss Cottage Gallery, London until 14th April 2018.
