For ‘Making Misrule’ in December 2024 at the Mint House, Pevensey, East Sussex I created a range of large scale animal head masks based on a medieval manuscript marginal from the Bodleian Library, Oxford. During the event I investigated themes around Twelfth Night and notions of ‘Carnivalesque’ when revellers traditionally enjoyed a brief moment when the world was ‘turned outside down’ and masters became fools, and a servant could become a ‘Master of Misrule’ during the Festival of Fools.
