Marches III

This painting is one of a series I produced for an exhibition for the British Council to celebrate their fifty years in Greece. As with most of the other works in the exhibition its structure is underpinned by an elemental cruciform shape that emerged from the shape of the model with outstretched arms. Elements of the series to which this painting belongs are deliberately ambiguous and elusive - are their concerns marine or terrestrial, figurative or abstracted, of decomposition or renewal?
