Margaret

By  Tracy Satchwill 2022 - 2023

Margaret playfully explores a 1960s housewife's role, thoughts and feelings. Through an internal monologue, she communicates her worries, boredom, repetition and frustrations, moving from chores that need doing to thoughts on women's lib.

The film was shot in the 1960s sitting room at North Lincolnshire Museum, with myself playing the role of Margaret. The shots were fused with green screen animations and AI avatars. Research for the monologue was taken from local and national publications, interviews with local women and interviews from Housewife by sociologist Ann Oakley.

The film received an honourable mention from the Experimental Forum for its unique vision and contribution to cinema.

The film was commissioned by the North Lincolnshire Museum.
