Miscommunication

By  JMC Anderson 2017
In partnership with The Bicycle Shop, I present to you a pop up exhibition called Miscommunication. Looking at Rory Macbeth's 'Utopia (No Place)' located at Duke Street carpark, Norwich. The focus point of this exhibition is the transitional interpretation of language. Reopening Macbeth’s work presents how words, language and the visual can be illustrated as a mismatch of ideals, seen through his interpretation of Thomas Mores book Utopia, with the words in a graffiti-like style covering the Eastern Electricity Building . Macbeth intended for his Utopia (No Place) to be demolished as part of the artwork in 2006. However, as the building still stands the artwork is left incomplete. In conjunction to this, Miscommunication looks to multiple interpretations on the ideology of Utopia for you to indulge in. Ranging from archival/photographic material to sculpture and film. Together this small-scale exhibition becomes an experiential process of language/dialogue. *****Rory Macbeth’s public work ‘Utopia (No Place)’ is a short 2 minute walk from the exhibition location.****** Included Artists: Rory Macbeth Caitlin Shepherd Abbie Cairns Curated by JMC Anderson ------------------------ Enter through side door: PRIVATE VIEW: Friday 21st of April 7pm - onwards (To mark the end of the pop up exhibition, so come, grab a drink and look at some artwork in The Bicycle Shop's cosy downstairs setting !!) --------------------------------- OPEN: Thursday 20th of April 1pm - 5pm Friday 21st of April 12pm - 4pm ----------------------- The Lower Ground Floor of: The Bicycle Shop 17 St Benedicts Street Norwich NR2 4PE
