A temporary, outdoor, celebratory installation combining eye catching, large scale visual artwork costumes and celebratory work created by professional artists alongside workshops and drop in sessions with adults and children.
The aim of the Moveable Feast is to create a welcoming and playful hub of activity that provides colour and spectacle as well as an appropriate backdrop for additional activities such as; performance, storytelling, demonstrations of art and craft, perhaps even cookery and local produce.
The installation comprises specially themed structural pieces alongside celebratory flags, carnival style puppets and wearable art pieces. Everything within the ‘Feast’ is lightweight and portable, allowing it to be transported from place to place by hand, at a moment's notice, in a processional style, by members of the public and participating artists creating movement, noise, celebration and spectacle!
The concept behind Moveable Feast has its roots in folkloric tradition, festivals, storytelling, mummers plays, banqueting and procession. It uses the concept of the “FEAST” in its widest, timeless sense, that of a community coming together to celebrate.
Moveable provides a high quality arts experience for visitors and participating artists and brings an element of spectacle to events. The feast can be specially themed for events with specially constructed key pieces.
