dumb dialogue November 6 - December 12, 2004 EI Huis, Saasekaai 45, B 9000 Ghent, Belgium Site specific installation for the window gallery at Experimental Intermedia, Gent, Belgium. A work made for people travelling on tramline 4. 'Muidebrug' is a tram stop on the corner at Sassekaai where passengers alight or pass by the window gallery. There is a close up insistence about the trams passing this point to constantly return on their loop. A neon sign played with the notion of going beyond the loop. Sounds of the trams echoed around the building and over the water. The EI windows reflected sublime elements - light and sky and the changing surface of the water in the basin. The same elements merged with reflections of trams and passengers as they passed through the scene. A half glimpsed tent in the gallery alluded to nomadic travel. One hour of synchronised, unedited video, transferred to DVD played back scenes pre-recorded through the gallery windows. The recordings, reflecting one hour of the tram timetable, were shown on two monitors.
