In 2016, artist Katy Beinart worked with a group of women from different faith backgrounds in
Ealing, to produce collaborative textile artworks about their biographies of faith, fabric and
locality, as part of research project Making Suburban Faith.
From the workshops, a large textile installation was produced alongside smaller pieces of embroidery and accompanying texts from interviews carried out by researcher Nazneen Ahmed. In addition, the work has been displayed alongside portraits of the participants by Laura Cuch Grases and poems
by Nazneen Ahmed.
A book of the project has also been produced, designed by Joff & Ollie studio and will be available online soon.
Making Suburban Faith is a project by University College London and Royal Holloway universities,
funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
