New Life

'New life' refers to something new I've discovered in my work this year. My work is always developing, but It's about catching that moment when something exciting appears on the canvas and holding onto it - it can be so easily lost. That moment of recognition can happen when it's too late and I have painted over it. My paintings virtually always contain geometric shapes, particularly squares and rectangles. Here squares work with the square canvas - the edges and the canvas shape are an important part of the whole. I have a preference for square works.
