New Strains

Bray

New Strains was a reflective site specific installation using natural light, acrylic, text and nylon line. 300 one metre acrylic panels were suspended from the roof of a Victorian greenhouse. The panels, reminiscent of plant markers were finely engraved with the Latin names of plants which are also girls names. These spun gently, casting reflections and shadows. The beds around the greenhouse were sympathetically planted. The installation subsequently transferred to two other empty greenhouses, in St Andrews and Melrose.
