Abbot’s Bromley Horn Dance is widely reported to be England’s oldest surviving ritual custom. Traditionally performed by men only, it is often described as a fertility rite. As someone who is childless by choice, I find folklore’s fixation on fertility a little off-putting. Plus it’s been debunked by historians since FOREVER, but why let the truth get the way of a good story?!
