Old Nab - waiting for Demeter

Charcoal, graphite and acrylic paint on paper, this mixed media piece depicts the landmark 'Old Nab' on the coast between Port Mulgrave and Staithes. The North Yorkshire coast can feel icy in early spring, but it knows the irresistible pull of spring as spots of green creep into the brittle hedgerows, where the birds who know the changing light announce the imminent arrival of Demeter.
