Open Books: Artists and the Chinese Folding Book

Open Books is a project I started in 2010 when I handed out some Chinese folding books to fellow artists in Wales following a trip to China. The first exhibition of these books opened in 2012 at the National Library of Wales. It has since been shown in Cardiff, Bristol, China, (2013) Australia, Hong Kong, (2014) Canada (2016) and India (2017). In 2013 we started a collaboration with the Sanshang Museum of Contemporary Art in Hangzhou to tour the exhibition internationally. In each country we hand out more blank books to local artists and add them to the show. It has become a forum for exchange of ideas between artists and curators across the globe.
