Out of Order

By Liz Sergeant 2018

Work in progress for upcoming commission - an ambitious art installation within the space of a local church, on the theme of the environment and our place within it - 'Beauty Order Abundance'. A community project, with contributions from various local groups - including schools, Brownies & Rainbows, and older members of the community. The space will be filled with a riot of ribbons, reminiscent of the beauty and abundance of the rain forest, with plants, animals and birds. As you move through the space, the ribbons change to black, white and grey, representing our destruction of the environment. Aerial scultpures of discarded plastics, cans and bags dangle in the space. Gnarly, charred trees reach out their dead branches.
