ParkStalk

By  Linda Jane James 2004 - 2005
During the autumn of 2004 spending 3 months in Gunnersbury Park and experimenting with a range of media to connect with the history of the Small and Large Mansions and bring together with the everyday experiences of people using the park, particularly the dog walkers. The residency culminated in a solo exhibition at the Small Mansion Arts Centr focussing on ways of engaging dog walkers into an art gallery, with all dogs welcome.. The key pieces of work were: Projected dog running round the small mansion ball room using a modified large glitterball (visitors with their dogs closed the gallery door and let their dogs off their leadas, the dogs began to engage with the image of the projected dog running around the room and chasing the light). An installation replicating an office of a security manager in the park observing the behaviour of squirrels. A magnetic poetry board for making haikus from overheard fragemnts of conversations. A series of Walkers photographs and observational texts. A light box of a dead squirrel. Three large giclee prints mounted on aluminium depicting animal behaviours in the park.
