“Platform Mirror “

The temporary mixed media artwork was drawn out on an old railway station platform in March 2022.The old station was at Yeathouse in West Cumbria and I sketched out an outline of a mirror directly onto the smooth platform flagstone .The outline was visually heightened by painting and rubbing in locally sourced sediment which was rich in iron oxide.Inside the mirror I inserted a photograph of the station,reflecting the immediate environment and creating an illusion of its current reality.The artwork has long since faded and like all my outdoor work,exists as documented photographs.
