Refugees Welcomed

By  Theresa Easton 2015 - 2016

David Lawson

Refugees Welcomed references the local story in the St Ronan's Standard from the first few months of the First World War detailing the first refugees arriving from Belgium in Innerleithen. The story welcomes the family, detailing their horrific experience, standing in stark contrast with 2016's stories in newspapers vilifying the plight of today's refugees from war torn countries. The broadsides incorporates original photography of refugees in Belgium.
