“River Island Portal “.

The temporary mixed media installation was created at an Environmental Arts Festival in Llano,Texas in March 2025.The festival which is called LEAF occurs every year and I was invited to attend for two weeks to create temporary environmental artworks in the build up to the festival weekend.The artwork is a photograph of an installation created on a river island using a found piece of twisted metal and stacked up river pebbles.I wanted to create a doorway effect using the found materials and it took 5 hours to create,stacking up the pebbles and employing dry stone wall techniques for the installation to stand upright. I had to take frequent breaks from the sun as daily  temperatures regularly exceeded 30degrees under cloudless skies.
