sergei parajanov is now world-renowned as film director. he was also an incredible writer and artist of armenian descent. however, parajanov’s artistic audacity and multi-faceted approach also met with rejection while his bisexuality meant repeated imprisonings and years of mental torment at the hands of the soviet union. for years the soviets tried to stop parajanov yet his art could not be silenced. he was dissident who used childlike wonder to speak against authoritarianism and question 'norms' of society. came across art of this fat-mad-bisexual lifelong-dissident accidentally while barely surviving in a homeless hostel after worst sectioning of our life & recognised we share/d so much. we all need our dreams back. gobscure exhibition - album of sound-art - participation in creative resistances - first seen newbridge project gateshead, spring 2020 c.e. https://thenewbridgeproject.com/events/rose-carved-rain/ also performance of same name premiered leeds playhouse https://leedsplayhouse.org.uk/events/queer-arts-north-showcase-2020/
