Scale (Pessimist/Optimist/Realist/Opportunist/Defeatist)

Centred on the classic board game, ‘Snakes & Ladders’, Scale (2019) seeks to echo the cultural translation of a metaphorical journey. Originating in ancient India, the game was set in favour of the snakes; a metaphor of ones treacherous path towards nirvana. Westernised by the Victorian age, ‘Snakes and ladders’ equalised the playing field, a crude totem of the Christian Zeitgeist within sin and redemption. Building on these traditions, Scale (2019) serves to trivialise our world views even further; a rule-orientated match of proverbial perspectives.
