Scrub was the first painting of a new series in 2024, introducing more playful compositions and abstract elements alongside observational drawings of nature. The limited palette of green and pink followed throughout the majority of the work made this year. Ideas of woodgrain, layers of compost and seams in rocks all contribute to these paintings as well as my regular practice of drawing seasonal plants in sketchbooks.
