sealed into a tree – paint cello
The Belfry Centre has given Bev Broadhead exclusive use of its hall for four days to paint in response to the repetitive sounds of a cello.
The cello sounds will be spontaneous and created in private specifically for this experimental project.
The experimental project sealed into a tree – paint cello, will be seen as a body of painted work - a pared down, raw expression - involving sound and vision in the making , but with the viewer experiencing the visual response only in the subsequent exhibition.
Being time specific, sealed into a tree - paint cello, will challenge the artist’s physical limitations and how these are overcome in the creative process.
An ‘exploration of non-intention’ (John Cage)
An opening event at the Belfry Centre, with bar, will be held on Friday 16 February from 5-8pm, and Bev will be available on Sunday 18 February from 11-3pm to chat about the work.
The work can be viewed at normal opening times from Friday 16 February to Saturday 3 March inclusive.
