Seven or eight squares

By  Jane Ostler 1979 - 1980
This 8ft by 13ft canvas was painted on both sides, cut out, filled and stretched. It was the largest item in an installation of five related artworks., where one thing led to another. The starting point for the work was seven random sized square stretchers. The large canvas had been draped, painted on with rollers, and carefully marked with outlined shapes gleaned from projected images rendered indecipherable by my processes.
