The work was constructed within an open space at Dorset County Hospital. The space was dominated by a large amphitheatre like landform/hollow. I was drawn towards the hollow and the need to enclose it, focus attention in and down. The close mown grass was precise, man-made, a high degree of control over nature. I was interested in what goes on beneath the surface and what might erupt or be allowed to come through. The main sculptural form comprised the Shoot Wave which comprised 7000 willow rods shaped to form a 1 - 3 metre thick wall which encircled and descended the hollow to link with three seedpods which were poised ready and waiting. Image shows seedpods with shoots in background.
