Site responsive work made during the Gullkistan residency in Laugarvatn, Iceland. Straws are placed in the sand and are bent at the neck. The colours are slightly fluorescent and appear to glow as if they had magically appeared almost momentarily. They link to plants and magic grasses and are also reminiscent language and in particular of runes, the Icelandic language. They also suggest antenna and hook like structures. Many Icelanders believe magic lives in the landscape and also of hidden people, both magical and mythical and have a long and proud history of literature. The function of straws drawing up liquid also links to the way plants draw up fluid.
