Singing with the Barrage

I recorded this transaction during a 3 week residency on lock island 2 at Cardiff Bay Barrage. I was struck by the melodic quality of the gates as they opened and closed. Surrounded by the sea I dreamt of sirens and sailors and started to sing with the gates as they opened and closed. The repetitive wear of the gates gave the curved steel a strained etherial human voice.
