“Siren One” continues the theme of powerful and frightening female figures, deities and supernatural creatures in Greek mythology and references disorienting patterns thought to ward off the evil eye. Siren was a creature half bird and half woman who lured sailors to destruction by the sweetness of her song. The painting is a contemporary response to ancient images and myths.
