Siren Two

By  Susan Banks 2023

Dimensions
50 x 50 x 2

“Siren Two” carries on the theme of powerful and terrifying female beings, deities and supernatural creatures in Greek mythology and it uses confusing patterns thought to ward off the evil eye. Siren was a creature half bird and half woman who lured sailors to destruction by the sweetness of her song. In Homer’s Odyssey there were two sirens. The painting is a contemporary response to ancient images and myths.
