Slipstream is a series of three main elements. Made in galvanised steel and copper, it takes inspiration from nautical, navigational and natural sources. Overlooking the Clyde, the sculpture reflects the shape and course of the river at that point and echoes the former rope-making industry of the area in a modern and dynamic form. A sense of tension is created in the rope as it disappears and emerges from the ground, linking the three elements. Slipstream is floodlit in purple, green and white from protected pits in the ground, the colours being well absorbed by the galvanised steel.
