Slot

‘Slot’ as with other works featured plays with the symbol of the 2p coin, the design matching that in ‘Automatic Change Giver’ and ‘All Things Fall II’ and featuring the coin pusher symbol. It features Deus Ex/Two Pence written on each side in a play on common Latin coin text while translating as ‘God From Two Pence’, an absurdist nod to Deus Ex Machina (God from the Machine) a plot device where the day is saved by an  improbable intervention. This, along with the scale of the oversize coin  speaks to the power of a simple 2 pence, pushed into a slot in an arcade machine to save even the rainiest of British seaside holidays.
