Some Times

Some Times, two films of differing lengths play on loop so they continually intersect and respond to each other. Made in collaboration with my 11-year-old twins, but without editing each other’s work.

Some Times was originally commissioned for My Kid Could've Done That, a group show curated by Will Cooper and his 5-year-old daughter Astrid, The Andrew Brownswood Gallery, Bath, 2021. It was then selected by Amartey Golding for the OUTPOST Members Show, Norwich, 2022 where the child’s voice-over was played through speakers, providing a soundtrack to the entire exhibition. The generous amplification of my child’s voice, whose description of making in Minecraft closely resembles an artist speaking about their material choices and processes in the studio, immediately broke the barrier that headphones can create and allowed the film, rather than the audio, to be glimpsed  by the viewer over the duration of their time in the space.
