South Square Frieze

By  Nick Cass 2009

Funded by the Arts Council, and created especially for my solo exhibition 'Flatworks' this work continues my exploration of the engravings of Vredeman de Vries. Constructed of oak veneer, the image is first drawn in three dimensions in an architectural drawing programme, shadows are created by geo-locating the three dimensional form within the space of the galley using Google earth. The work becomes a flat representation of a three dimensional structure, with shadows which are correct for the Gallery location and time of year.
