Speech - Collaboration with Kivimaa

Unavoidably the artist/tourist finds (or places) themselves in situations they don't understand. Speech uses this state of ignorance as a starting point, extends it and activates awareness of it in the audience. I deliver a speech in Estonian. Gradually it becomes clear that I am acting as the mouthpiece for someone else - that I am repeating words that some unseen person is electronically whispering in my ear. Although my voice and gestures are expressive they have an arbitrary relationship to my speech - evidently I have absolutely no idea I am talking about. Everyone else understands ‘my’ words.
Part of an ongoing series of evolving performances in countries that do not have English as a first language.
