Sitting at the junction of five pathways this standing stone marks a natural meeting place within a neglected community woodland.
Glimpses of the stone can be seen from the pathway, inviting and encouraging passersby to discover the stone and woodland.
Carved with text and images created by members of the local community through a series of workshops held in the local community centre and retirement home The aim of the project was to re- establish a sense of ownership and care for an area that had become neglected and rundown.
The stone celebrates natural cycles of life whilst at the same time acknowledging the rich cultural value of the woodland as a local land mark.
