Studies for Post Production and Benchmark

By  Amanda Loomes 2013 - 2014

I was one of five short listed artists for in inaugural Jerwood Open Forest commission. In January/February 2014 the work was exhibited at Jerwood Space, London. I produced four films displayed on a stack of pallets entitled Studies for Post Production and Benchmark. Using the short experimental documentary form I examined forestry processes and the life cycle of timber, drawing attention to the contemporary working forest. Forestry and film making are both time-based mediums and the work plays with this, using non-linear editing techniques to bring together distant conversations, speeding up production and reversing mistakes. The films acted as a point of reference whilst the pallets acted as a prop to support the product of the labour.
