GHAT commission for Balfour Hospital (A&E) and Peedie Sea Children's Centre, Orkney.
The original artworks are now framed and installed in the public areas of the Balfour Hospital and replicas made of polished acrylic are installed in the Receiving Rooms (A&E) of the Balfour hospital and also the children's healthcare centre, Orkney.
In accordance with the GHAT brief the artists commissioned two writers, Jen Hadfield and Lesley Glaister, to consult children and NHS staff in order to create poems and text relating to Orkney's natural heritage. Tumim & Prendergast have selected text and used stitch and photography to create these artworks pairings.
This project has been managed by Grampian Hospitals Arts Trust and funded by the Archie Foundation, Aberdeen - with support from NHS Orkney and the Orkney Islands Council.
