Supper

Dimensions
110 x 115 cm

In ‘Supper’ I bring up the issue of my own immigration. Leaving the southern Polish homeland to the UK to find better prospects in life has turned out to be my life’s journey, which has greatly influenced my perception of life and the world. For me, being an immigrant is like balancing between two worlds, the present and the past that had shaped me. It’s a mix of different feelings, experiences and contrasting attitudes. It’s a fight for survival, a failure and a success simultaneously. My ‘previous world’ is like a small village at which I often look back. It is continuously submitted to time passing, blurring, forgetting as well as rediscovery, criticism and idealization. This ‘village’ is both my starting point and destination at the same time.
