Taming of Divergent Thinking
By

I'm repeatedly redrawn to the circle, the sphere, as a tidy symbol of my confusion, an emotional response to make sense of my world, an attempt at placing a goldfish bowl, boundaries around my scattered thoughts.
These works are notions of a totality of wholeness, lines have meaning, reformed knowledge, subtracted values to bind, restrict and protect.
The works are made in response to divergent thinking, to encounters of reality, they are disorganised and re-organised in the studio in an attempt at predetermined intervention.
These works sit between abstract and representational. The overall form abstract, whilst the material maintains references and connections to its original functionality.
