Teeter

By  Liz Clifford 2022

Liz Clifford

The form grows through and out of the container of the gabion basket. It is an experiment in instability, the work balancing on three legs, one of which drags the stuffed weight of a discarded and bound pillow with it. The domestic and stained fabric, referencing the corporeal, is bound with fencing wire and steel objects found abandoned in the landscape. The contained pillow within the gabion becomes a nest in the ‘belly’ of the form. The work continues an exploration into the resilience of trees in the face of human manipulation and hints at the evolution of hybrid forms.
