Testing Ground

Testing Ground was an installation that changed and evolved throughout a two month artist residency at Yorkshire Artspace, Exchange place, Sheffield. The public facing studio/gallery space was employed as a stage to publicly experiment with new visual compositions that filled the whole space, playing freely with materials, colour, light and transparency. A revolving interest was the conjuring of new landscapes which blurred the divisions between interior and exterior spaces, the public and the private. A performative way of working evolved which harnessed a ‘liveness’, provoking playful ideas about impermanence and change and about what our spatial environment might be.
