Repainted this canvas several times until it resolved itself. One of the most important aspects I aim for is keeping the paintings fresh and painterly. I do this by constantly standing back to view from a distance which gives a perspective revealing whether it works or not. Then drawing the viewer in closing there is more to see.

Bcalm has a history of transition starting from 2013 when I exhibited this painting in a solo show in London, Thomas and Paul Gallery. Returning after the show I modified the painting by simplifying the complex array of shapes and making subtle changes to the colour values. Then in early 2015, post West Pier Art project, I changed it again.
