The Eurofighter

By  Lisa Stansbie 2012

Dimensions
120cm x 33cm

The Eurofighter battleship is a fictional vessel constructed near Spitfire Beach. This fictional kit model was a commemorative toy that was made to celebrate its building. The model remains a collectors item due to the fact that the ship was wrecked shortly after its first voyage. The Eurofighter ship is described in the narrative of the film Spitfire Beach: 'When we visited as children the bay seemed exotic, an enchanted white peninsula. With the new friends I made every year we created a hawk den, where we secretly observed the boat makers. The final year we inhabited the den we watched in awe as the workers constructed the Eurofighter, named to instill hope in the new nation.'
