The Eye of the Daimon
The moment of awakening?
Daimons were guiding spirits in ancient Greece, neither gods nor mortals, but something in between. Most likely forces of destiny, insight, and transformation, acting as mediators between divine will and human destiny.
In myth and Jungian psychology, the eye-in-flame can be seen as a portal watching over the soul, yet also igniting it.
The central motif of this work is the Eye of the Daimon itself, representing higher awareness, inner calling, or divine insight. The flame evokes transformation, illumination, even trial by fire.
Below, a spirit-like figure appears in a state of movement or ritual, embodying the instinctual and expressive self in dialogue with unseen forces. Above looms a guardian of primal energy, echoing both divine and bestial archetypes. A reminder that the daimon arises not only from light, but from the depths of the psyche.
Much of the image is constructed in segmented forms, referring to ancient mosaics that attempted to depict the world through Greek thought, which now reaches us fragmented, both visually and theoretically.
The composition weaves together themes of inner awakening, ancestral memory, and the tension between higher consciousness and primal force. Through its layered iconography, the painting opens a mythic space in which the daimon bears witness to a journey of psychic transformation.
