The Hut

By  Sarah Harley 2017
Commissioned by Arts Council England The story of an officer’s hut in a wildlife garden near Holt reveals a picture of Norfolk during WW2 playing host to a huge influx of British and foreign personnel. My exploration of the hut’s forgotten history reveals personal stories within broader contexts linking local to global, historical to contemporary. I communicated and developed the research process as a narrative comic within an art installation and workshops. Showing at four rural community locations with cross-generational workshops, participants and audiences shared in a relevant and imaginative experience of contemporary art, history and the local environment.
