The Kingdom

By Nick Malone 2010

Dimensions
183 x 183 and 198 x 198

'The Kingdom' series is a story of exploration set in an imaginary rainforest. Like 'Jason Smith's Nocturnal Opera', the paintings involves interaction with writing through changing layers and glazes of ambiguity, but here, instead of pre-planned narrative, the series was advanced through correspondence between the pictures themselves, discoveries of elements in one painting prompting new developments in the next, with intent and chance co-existing through willed and unwilled areas of paint. The series includes three large works of acrylic on canvas.
